Video shows dramatic rescue of unresponsive bus driver

Surveillance video captured the drama when a group of drivers at an intersection jumped into action to save a school bus driver who suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel Wednesday. (Video is below the story.)

The driver, 62-year-old Aubrey Liverpool, had just finished his morning route when he became unresponsive at a stop light and began rolling into traffic, hitting a truck. (Source: MyFoxTampaBay.com)

When the truck driver got out to talk to Liverpool, he could not get his attention. He banged on the bus door and flagged down other drivers.

The video on the bus shows a man and his son working with the truck driver to open the bus door, but it was shut tight.

A woman about five cars behind the bus, Shannon Ivey, saw what was going on and ran up to the driver’s window, pulling herself through.

Ivey opened the door and the other rescuers carried Liverpool out of the bus, staying with him until an ambulance arrived.

Liverpool was treated at a hospital and released Friday afternoon.
