Efforts are underway to save a dog that was doused with hot tar recently and left on the side of a road.
Marsha McGinnis told Channel 11's Pamela Osborne she found a 1-year-old beagle-boxer mix on the side of the road Saturday afternoon covered in tar that burnt him to the flesh.
“How could anyone do this?” she said. “He moaned when I picked him up.”
McGinnis said she brought Oden to a grooming facility, where he’s getting cleaned up and nursed back to health.
McGinnis said they called police and took him to the vet, but it’s unclear who poured the tar on Oden and why.
Oden’s owner may not be able to care for him or pay the hundreds of dollars it’s costing to treat him.
