An Arizona mother let go of a double stroller to swat a bee Friday, and the stroller rolled into a canal, drowning her 18-month-old twin sons.
"The stroller rolled away from her into the canal, with the boys belted in the seat," police told CNN.
Alexi Kevlar went into the canal to try to rescue the boys but the current washed the stroller away. She was not able to call for help until she got out of the steep-sided canal.
Although the water agency managing the canal slowed the water and reduced its level as part of the emergency response, it took searchers more than an hour to find the babies.
Both boys were flown to a hospital but did not survive.
