What to know now:
1. Trump to nominate Tillerson: President-elect Donald Trump is expected to announce Tuesday that ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson will be his nominee for secretary of state. Tillerson, 64, has built close relationships with many world leaders in his capacity as the head of one of the largest oil companies in the world.
2. Parton to host telethon: Dolly Parton will host a telethon Tuesday to help the people who lost their homes after wildfires swept through Sevier County, Tenn., recently. Parton, who grew up in the area, will be joined by Reba McEntire, Alison Krauss and her former partner on several hits, Kenny Rogers. The telethon will be broadcast on Great American Country at 8 p.m. ET.
3. Cosby trial: Attorneys for Bill Cosby will ask a judge Tuesday to limit the number of women who can testify at his upcoming trial on charges of sexual assault. Prosecutors want to call 13 women to the stand in Cosby's trial to show the comedian has a pattern of drugging and then sexually assaulting women. Some 50 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of assaults that they claim have taken place over a 50-year period.
4. Social Security: The chairman of the House Ways and Means subcommittee on Social Security has introduced legislation that would slowly increase the retirement age workers must reach to begin receiving the plan's benefits. The bill would also curb the increases in benefits to high-income workers, while bumping-up benefits to lower income participants, according to Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Texas. The bill was introduced last week in the House
5. Not so chubby: American babies are getting a little less chubby, according to a study of children enrolled in a government nutrition assistance program. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the number of babies at risk for obesity later in life dropped from 15 percent in 2010 to 12 percent in 2014.

Yale Law School has release its annual list of notable quotes. In a year where there was any number of bizarre, provocative and down-right odd quotes, president-elect Donald Trump came out the winner when he said at a rally in Iowa, "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters." Hillary Clinton also made the list with her "basket of deplorables" quote.
