Despite requests from the Uber driver to take him to a hospital, a man who was shot in the leg asked for a ride home.
Uber driver David Heinicke said that he picked up a passenger in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, who had his leg wrapped in an apparent attempt to stop bleeding. The passenger admitted that he had been shot by a .22 pistol.
Heinicke urged the man to go to the hospital, but the passenger refused.
"(He) said if I didn't take him here, he was going to get out and walk the rest of the way, so I brought him here," Heinicke told WZZM.
The shooting victim eventually was admitted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police say.
