inside a DeKalb County Walmart.
Surveillance cameras inside of the Walmart store on Fairington Road captured the gunfire on video.
Authorities say the man opened fire on security officers. According to a police report, employees say that the suspect was told to empty his pockets to see if there was any other stolen items. Shortly, after that, according to the report, the suspect pulled the weapon from a brown bag.
A security officer told Channel 2's Rachel Stockman he held the gun down until his fellow workers could run away after he pointed it at his manager.
Shoppers told Stockman they were shocked by the incident.
"It's crazy. I don't know why they would do that," shopper Deandre Shepard said.
"At this day and time, it is like everyone is carrying weapons. You just don't know what is going on," said Von Jones, a customer
Police say the loss prevention officer wrestled the suspect to the ground. His colleagues credit him with allowing them to escape.
"He put his life at risk. He could have got shot, but at least he did something," shopper Amanda Brightwell told Stockman.
"It's sad, you know? Crime is all over. I just say get it right with God," shopper Nicky Walker said.
The surveillance video shows the suspect point a gun at the Walmart employee and then run away.
"They need to go ahead and go find him," Brightwell said.
There are warrants out for the man's arrest. He faces three counts of aggravated assault and is from the Tennessee area, according to a police report.
