Step aside, San Francisco — Seattle now has the highest concentration of gay couple households in the U.S.
According to recent estimations from the Census Bureau, 2.6 percent of Seattle households are gay couples — the highest percent among the nation's top 50 most populous cities. (Via KIRO)
That means " … about one in every 17 couple households in the city are gay." (Via My Northwest.com)
San Francisco and Minneapolis rounded out the top three — with 2.5 percent and 2.4 percent respectively. (Via Seattle Times)

And apparently, it’s something some San Franciscans are not too happy about …
A blogger for SF Weekly writes: " … dumped for Seattle. Fine. Go … Perhaps incessant rain is a better backdrop for long-term romance."
Just a year ago San Francisco had nearly twice as many gay couple household compared to Seattle — so why the change? The Seattle Times says it's lesbians couples …
" … Seattle claimed the top city for the percentage of lesbian couples by a relatively wide margin." It was the only major city to have more than one percent of households belonging to lesbian couples.
But don't get too upset San Francisco! The Census Bureau shows that "The City by the Bay" still has the highest number of male gay couple households.
