Imagine paying a $500 fine for wearing a hoodie in public.
Oklahoma Senator Don Barrington said his proposal is meant to help victims of crimes and keep streets safer.
It's already illegal in Oklahoma to wear hoodies while committing a crime.
Attorney James Siderias said that a proposed law to not allow people to wear a hoodie in public violates people's rights.
"If somebody is out running, especially in this kind of weather, where it's cold, drizzly, you might be inclined to wear your hoodie," said Siderias.
Barrington's proposal does include exceptions for costumes, religious reasons, safety, or medical reasons.
