A North Carolina woman who won a $188 million Powerball jackpot earlier this year was cited after drugs were found in her home, ABC affiliate WWAY reported.
Marie Holmes, 26, of Shallotte walked away with nearly $88 million after paying taxes and taking a lump sum from the February lottery win.
Officials said Holmes lived with Lamarr McDow, who was released from jail early on a $3 million bond after being charged with heroin trafficking and possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin.
Brunswick County Sheriff's deputies arrested McDow on Thursday for violating the curfew requirements of his pretrial release, a spokeswoman told WWAY.
The spokeswoman said there was a strong odor of marijuana inside the home, so deputies got a search warrant. Officials said deputies found a gun and charged McDow with possession of a firearm by a felon.
Brunswick County Sheriff's deputies cited Holmes with possession of marijuana, a spokeswoman told WWAY. According to the citation, Holmes was cited for having a half ounce or less of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at her home on Boverie Street in Shallotte. Danell Lamont McNeil, 31, and Damarius Dontrell Simmons, 21, received the same charges.
Officers said they found marijuana in the home, which led to the charges against Holmes and two other people at the house.
McDow is being held on a $6 million bond. Read more at WWAY.
