A woman who made an innocent discovery with her newly purchased metal detector ended up prompting the evacuation of her local police station.

ABC News Australia reports that Fairlie Pirouc was testing out the detector on a beach in the southeastern state of Victoria when she dug up what she initially identified as "a bomb" and then "perhaps a shot put."

Pirouc and her husband took it home, then to a nearby military base, where they were advised to turn it in at the police station.

Back in July, a Boca Raton woman received her husband's wedding ring in the mail after it had been found by a man with a metal detector on a beach in Los Angeles.
