A Jonesboro, Maine, woman who crashed her car into a pond over the weekend had been drinking before the accident, police say.
WGME reported that 38-year-old Mandi Parker was charged with operating a vehicle after suspension of a license.
Parker and her two children -- a 2-month-old and a 3-year-old -- were rescued by Leonard Wallace, 60, who was fishing nearby with his wife.
"There was no hesitation on my part because the car was going down," Wallace told the Portland Press Herald Sunday.
He dived into fox Pond's 48-degree water to get one of the children, rescuing the other child before helping Parker.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services has custody of the children.
Authorities said more charges may follow upon completion of the investigation.
