A man was arrested on Monday after police said he was drunk and crashed into multiple vehicles while pulling up to a taxi company for a job interview.
Ryan William Dickson, 39, arrived at Trans Iowa, a taxi company in Des Moines, at 9:25 a.m. on Monday and crashed into a parked car while trying to bring his vehicle to a stop, the Des Moines Register reports. After hitting that car, he began to back-up and try again and hit another car in front of him, police said.
"I just get out there and a little white car comes pulling in and smashes into one of our driver's cars," Trans Iowa Dispatcher Barbara Freeborn told KCCI. "I go in and he's standing there and I'm like, 'Sir, have you been helped?' and he couldn't comprehend what I was saying."
Police said Dickson had a blood alcohol level of .273 after a breath test, which is three times more than the legal limit. He told officers that he wasn’t drinking, but later recanted that statement and told them he drank until 2 am. and then checked himself into a hospital for alcohol consumption before drinking a fifth of vodka at 8 a.m. on his way to the interview.
He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He also did not not get the job at the taxi company.
