Memphis police and the Tennessee Department of Children's Services are investigating a disturbing photo posted to the FOX13 Facebook page. It shows two children with their hands duct taped together and mouths duct taped closed.
“That’s tragic. I mean, who does that,” Dreyia Johnson said when shown the photo. "I mean those are two innocent babies."
It was posted to Facebook by someone with the profile name Jaton Justsilly Jaibabi.
“It’s child abuse, hands down child abuse,” Johnson said.
The caption just above the pictures says “Kids for sale 45% because they bad.”
It appears the Facebook user’s profile has been deleted. However, the Memphis Police Department is working to identify the mother and the children.
“We have leads onto the location of the children and the person responsible,” Wilton Cleveland, who works with the Memphis Police Department.
Cleveland has investigated similar cases in the past. He said some details cannot be disclosed at this time, but he said the matter is being taken very seriously.
“Of course, our biggest concern is the children, and what kind of affects this could have on those children,” Cleveland said.
As of right now, no charges have been filed.
