A Tennessee man is in jail, charged with killing his wife over a church donation.
Norman McKinney showed up at the sheriff's office Sunday afternoon, saying he shot his wife, Johnson City Press reported.
When deputies arrived, they found Mae McKinney, 81, with a gunshot wound in the head. She died Tuesday at a local hospital.
Sheriff Mike Hensley told the Johnson City Press, "According to him, he had put some money back for church tithes. He basically accused her of taking the money."
Investigator Ronnie Adkins says the two argued for an hour before Norman grabbed a gun and pointed the gun at his wife, threatening to kill her. The paper writes McKinney told investigators his wife, “slapped the gun, causing it to fire.”
McKinney is being held on a charge of murder with bond set at $300,000.
