One man shared a photo of bagels he brought into the office, and the way they were sliced generated a significant response on Twitter.

BuzzFeed News reported that Alek Krautmann, an employee of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, tweeted a photo of a box of bagels he ordered from Panera Bread for his co-workers.

"Today I introduced my coworkers to the St. Louis secret of ordering bagels bread sliced," he tweeted Monday. "It was a hit!"

By bread sliced, Krautmann means the bagels, which are usually sliced in half horizontally, were sliced vertically. According to Krautmann, the vertical slicing is done in St. Louis, where he’s from.

Thousands of replies to the tweet flooded in. Most of them weren’t favorable.

Mixed reviews or not, the National Weather Service St. Louis also got in on the conversation and Panera Bread offered Krautmann free bagels.
