Saying they were high on Xanax and meth, Chelsie Barry and Jared Prier told police they couldn’t decide what to do when their friend, Dennis Meyer, died from an overdose of Dilaudid.
Their ultimate solution?
Take a selfie with the corpse and post it to Facebook.
The pair then dumped Meyer’s body in a rural area and drove away. During the investigation, Missouri police were alerted to the Facebook photo. (It has since been removed.)
Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland told the Joplin Globe, Berry admitted knowing Meyer was dead when they took the picture and left the body.
Berry reportedly told investigators Meyer injected himself with the painkiller and then began "acting crazy." The pair said they were driving around "looking for a place to dump the body" after it began to stink.
Both Berry and Prier face a charge of abandonment of a corpse.
