Apparently, military uniforms don’t make the cut for the dress code.
The Standard Hotel in Manhattan made an apology after a bouncer turned away a Navy officer from their rooftop bar for wearing her uniform, the New York Daily News reports.
The sailor was denied entry at the elevator when she arrived with three other people dressed in cocktail attire on Saturday during Fleet Week.
“I said, ‘Wait, are you rejecting us because someone is in a service uniform?’” Ryan O’Connor, the husband of the sailor’s cousin, said to the Daily News. "He kind of rolled his eyes and wouldn’t budge.”
A manager of the hotel responded to an email sent by the sailor’s relatives on Sunday, inviting her back to the hotel.
“This was Memorial Day weekend and walking distance from Ground Zero. This should have been a no-brainer,” O’Connor said to the Daily News.
