Everyone wants to feel appreciated, including police officers.

One resident in Bartlett, Tennessee decided to reach out to his neighbor, who is an officer with the local police department, to say thanks.

According to a post on the Bartlett Police Department’s Facebook page, an officer found a heartfelt letter on his front door this morning.

It reads as follows:

Neighbor,

Thank you for everything you do. Thank you for putting your life on the line every day to protect the people I love, people you don't even know. Thank you for keeping this city and the people in it safe with very little acknowledgment or appreciation.

My father and uncle were officers in Collierville. My father passed away before he could retire, but he lost both kneecaps in a fight with a crack dealer and my uncle was killed on duty.

The amount of bravery it takes to do the job you do should be much more appreciated and respected than it is, so I wanted to take this opportunity to do just that.

My wife and I appreciate, respect, and honor what you do to make sure our son can play in a safe neighborhood. May God and St. Michael keep watch over you as you do for us.

Your Neighbor
