Worcester residents have spent the week wading through several feet of extra snow, but one kind gesture is sure to bring a little warmth to the area. According to the local paper, "The Telegram," an unknown resident is leaving scarves and hats along the streets for anyone who needs a little extra heat.

Along with the winter gear, laminated notes can be found reading, "This scarf is not lost. If you need it to stay warm, please take it! It is yours! Be warm." The mysterious notes end with a call to action.

"If you can,  please do something to help someone today," they read.

Some residents are looking for the do-gooder, using #FindTheKnitter on Twitter in hopes of tracking the person down. So far, whoever is responsible remains a mystery.

According to "The Telegram," no local charities have taken responsibility, though organizations like The United Way are thrilled to see the acts of generosity.

This is not the first time someone has handed out wintertime accessories anonymously. A Pennsylvania-based movement called "Chase the Chill," has done something similar.
