A massive sinkhole swallowed a police vehicle early Friday morning in Colorado.
Sgt. Greg Miller says he was driving through an intersection near a shopping mall when the road suddenly collapsed.
Miller reported seeing a lot of dust and dirt as the vehicle fell through the hole. He also heard water. That’s when he realized what had happened.
"I realize I'm in a sinkhole. All I see is dirt around me," Miller told 7News.
Miller was able to climb out a window and pull himself on to the car’s roof. He grabbed hold of the pavement and dragged himself out of the sinkhole.
The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for cuts and bruises. He has since been released.
Meanwhile, police say the SUV continues to sink in the hole that is approximately 10 to 15 feet deep.
