The prosecution of Rachel Dolezal's brother, Joshua, on child sex assault charges in Colorado may be related to Dolezal's very public family drama, according to the Denver Post.
According to the Post:
- Source tells the Post that Joshua Dolezal, 39, stands accused in Clear Creek County of four felony sounds of child sex assault in alleged incidents involving a child who was 6 or 7 years old in 2000 or 2001.
- The alleged victim said there was another victim, as well, according to the report.
- Joshua Dolezal allegedly warned against telling anyone about the abuse, but the alleged victim "decided to come forward now because Joshua Dolezal has a young daughter."
- The allegations were reported to police in 2013 and Joshua Dolezal was arrested in March 2014.
According to the report, Rachel Dolezal’s parents were asked about the charges against their son but they chose not to comment and said the case was unrelated to their daughter, whom they publicly “outed” for passing as black when her genetic background is mostly European on both sides.
Is Rachel Dolezal's brother's case connected to the family fallout?
Dolezal has "previously suggested… (her parents' actions were) "somehow connected to the Colorado case - designed to damage her credibility," according to the New York Daily News.
That report said Rachel Dolezal kept a low profile over the weekend “after taking the 21-year-old black brother she has been raising as a son to the airport.”
Dolezal resigned as the local head of the NAACP in Spokane on Monday.
