More than 14,300 McDonald's locations in the U.S. will serve all-day breakfast, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The breakfast items that will be served throughout the day include hot cakes and breakfast burritos. Some locations also will serve either biscuit sandwiches or Egg McMuffins, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The change also will involve investments on the part of the restaurants, which will need to upgrade some equipment to accommodate cooking breakfast items next to lunch and dinner items. A McDonald's spokeswoman told the Wall Street Journal that restaurants will have to invest between $500 and $5,000 per location to make the upgrades.

In announcing the date, McDonald’s sent replies to people who tweeted to them as long ago as 2007 asking the company to begin selling all-day breakfast. Those tweets included some sent by TV personalities Erin Andrews and Chrissie Teigen.

One tweet reads: “The eagle has landed. And by eagle we mean #AllDayBreakfast. And by landed we mean starting 10/6!”

Another tweet was sent in reply to a man’s tweet from June 22, 2008, asking why McDonald’s doesn’t serve all-day breakfast.

"Breaking news!" the company replied. "McDonald's replies to California man's tweet from 2008 with #AllDayBreakfast announcement!"
