Four Marines stormed a Florida beach over the weekend. It wasn't for any military action, but to recreate and relive a moment from 50 years ago.

Bob Falk, 71, Dennis Puleo, 69, Tom Hanks, 69, and Bob DeVenezia, 70, gathered on Florida's Cinnamon Beach to recreate a photo the group posed for five decades earlier.

It has been 50 years since all four of the former brothers in arms were in the same room, DeVenezia told the Naples Daily News.

"We just broke up. Life is funny like that. I didn't keep in touch with any of them. There was something about the Vietnam War and the negativity we kept hearing," DeVenezia told the paper.

They were all stationed together back in 1966. They trained together and deployed together, but were separated once they arrived in Vietnam, the Naples Daily News reported.

They served their tours and returned home, going their own ways, pursuing successful careers and families.

Then five years ago, Falk found a memorial online that was set up by Hanks to honor another fallen military member.

The group would meet separately over the years, but never all four at the same time.

Then, Hanks found a photo of the four younger versions of themselves posing with a surf board, the Naples Daily News reported.

Eventually, with some prodding, all four former friends decided to meet at St. Augustine, to recreate the photo as best they could.

They borrowed a long board from a stranger then snapped the photo, before heading off for lunch and an afternoon of stories and reminiscing.
