A man wearing a cast on his leg was arrested early Tuesday after leading Houston police on a chase and jumping from a bridge, injuring his other leg, authorities said.
Police were attempting to conduct a traffic stop when the man refused to pull over and began to drive away, KHOU reported.
The man lost control of his vehicle after a short pursuit and hit a bridge rail, KTRK reported. The man then jumped across a bridge onto the freeway below, breaking his other leg, the television station reported.
"He jumped off the bridge, and when he jumped onto the freeway, apparently he injured the other leg. So, apparently both legs are injured now," Houston Police Department spokesman Sgt. Larry Crowson told KTRK.
Police subdued the man, who was not hit by any cars on the freeway, KHOU reported. Investigators said the man, who was not identified, was on parole for a burglary warrant, according to KTRK.
