“Gleason” is a documentary about Steve Gleason, a professional football player who was diagnosed with ALS in 2011.
Doctors gave him 2-5 years to live, but instead of going into a deep depression, Gleason and his wife decided to live life to the fullest.
After finding out his wife was pregnant, he started documenting his life for his son. The videos included his thoughts, advice and pre-ALS life. They were to be videos his son could watch when Gleason was no longer there.
The result is an amazing film showing the power of love and the strength it takes to fight.
The last lines said by Gleason describe the film the best: “That’s all that matters, me passing myself to you. That’s what dads do. They pass the best of themselves to their kids.”
