A man accused of war crimes in Somalia is now living in the United States and working one of the airports that serves the nation's capital.

Yusuf Abdi Ali is accused of atrocities as he served when a military commander during Somalia's civil war, CNN reported.

Ali is being sued in U.S. civil court by a human rights group who calls him a "war criminal" who committed "crimes against humanity."

He is accused of torture, burning villages and mass executions at villages across the African country.

Ali has been on U.S. soil for nearly two decades and was working as a security guard at Dulles International Airport in Virginia.

He works for Master Security, which has a contract with the the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority for unarmed security details.

Master Security told CNN that Ali had to go through an FBI background check, as well as a TSA check.

The company said it was not aware of "pending litigation," but has placed Ali on administrative leave as the company reviews his case, CNN reported.

Ali's airport access has been revoked.
