The lightning death toll for this year was upped to 26 following a bolt in the Grand Canyon that struck down 21-year-old Jonathan Crowden of Alfredtown, Australia.
The National Weather Service added the death to its lightning fatality list Friday.
National Weather Service lightning expert John Jensenius confirmed the Coconino County medical examiner ruled Crowden was struck by lightning.
According to Tucson News Now, Crowden was hiking the South Kaibab Trail when he was struck.
Florida has the highest number of deaths because of lightning and it's not because of golf.
