Kim Kardashian is making a public plea after a man she’s set out to help has trouble finding housing.

Matthew Charles of Nashville, Tennessee, was granted clemency earlier this year under the new prison reform act Kardashian worked to get passed. Charles served 20 years in prison when he was convicted on drug and weapons charges. His background has meant he continues to be denied housing.

Kardashian quietly offered to pay five years of rent for Charles.

"Kim reached out privately to Matthew yesterday after hearing he was having a hard time getting approved for an apartment and has generously offered to pay five years of his rent," Tim Hardiman, a senior producer at CMT in Nashville, told Us Weekly March 11. "He was overwhelmed by Kim's offer and graciously accepted."

Although Charles expressed his gratitude for Kardashian's gesture, the funds have not helped Charles get approved for housing. NBC News reported that, according to Kardashian, Charles' lease application was rejected despite her offer to pay his rent in advance.
