Firefighters had to block a busy highway in North Carolina Friday morning after hundreds of gallons of paint were spilled across the road.

Crews responded to the messy scene on an Interstate 85 ramp around 8 a.m. after they said 250 gallons of white paint spilled across the road.

Officials said a utility trailer was being hauled by a truck when it dropped a container carrying the paint while trying to get onto I-85.

Hazmat crews were called to help clean up the mess and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
