It’s been nearly two weeks and Poseidon is still on the loose.
elusive 6-foot, 50-pound Asian water lizard escaped its enclosure from Kevin Henning's yard and there's only been one confirmed sighting since: Monday at the TwinEagles Golf and Country Club, according to the Naples Daily News.
"He's very tame and docile," Hennings told the Daily News. "He's never tried to bite. He's never even opened his mouth in an aggressive way."
However, Henning admitted Poseidon’s looks can be deceiving.
"He does look a little scary," Henning said.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission visited Henning and made a report.
"They're on the look-out for him," Henning told WFTX. "They're setting up traps and they're surveying with their biology team."
The reptile might feel threatened if it is approached, according to WINK. Water lizards feed on small mammals, eggs, fish and birds. It is not considered an invasive species because it has not established a breeding population, according to the Daily News.
"He's a member of the family and I'd like to keep it that way," Hennings told WINK.
