According to 24/7 Wall Street, Florida is one of the most unsafe places for pedestrians in the U.S.

It is the second most dangerous state after New Mexico, which has 3.55 pedestrian deaths per 100,000 residents, while Florida has 2.96. The rest of the top 10 includes Delaware, Nevada, Louisiana, South Carolina, Arizona, Alabama, Alaska and New Jersey.

The website examined 2014 data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to come up with the ranking.

It added that Florida has the second highest total of pedestrian fatalities with 588 and also had the third-highest total of traffic fatalities with 2,494. The website added that 76 percent of pedestrian deaths occur in urban areas and that speed limits, the prevalence of sidewalks and other factors affect the amount of fatalities.

The safest state, according to the data, is Minnesota, which has 0.27 pedestrian fatalities per 100,000 people.
