Five fast facts about Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick continues to make the news for his political stands. However, how much do you know about the man himself? Here are five fast facts about the quarterback.

• Kaepernick was a top student. He graduated from his Turlock, Calif., high school with a 4.1 GPA.

• He nearly became a pro baseball player. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2009, but chose to stay in Nevada and pursue football.

• In 2011 he was drafted as a second-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers.

• Kaepernick broke the record for the most single-game rushing yards at 181 in 2013.

• In fourth grade, he predicted that he would be 6-foot-4, weigh 140 pounds and play for the 49ers. The only thing he got wrong was his weight- he is 230 pounds.

• This year he began a major controversy by refusing to stand for the national anthem at a preseason game to protest racial injustice in America.
