A woman ordered two beers: one for her, and one for her brother who died in Iraq.

At first, Tacoma, Washington,  Buffalo Wild Wings server Brian Avey told her that she couldn’t order two beers because of Washington state law.

But then she told him the Corona was for her brother.

“It just sat next her at an empty seat her entire Lunch,” wrote Avey on his Facebook page. “When I brought her bill I told her Buffalo Wild Wings will be buying that beer ...”

On her receipt, the woman wrote this note of thanks:

“Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day.” –A Grateful Soldier

Staff at Buffalo Wild Wings didn’t have the heart to throw the beer away.

“I just can’t throw this beer away,” the bar manager Dan told KIRO 7.

He wanted to honor the fallen soldier.

So he told Avey: “Let’s keep it. Just make sure that we change out the lime every day.”

Facebook users shared Avey's post more than 24,000 times.

The beer now sits next to a flag in the restaurant, and Dan says they’ve been getting calls of thanks from all over the world.
