The verdict comes almost two years after two bombs exploded near the marathon's finish line on April 15, 2013, killing three people and wounding more than 260.
During closing arguments Monday, Tsarnaev's lawyers agreed with prosecutors that Tsarnaev conspired with his brother to bomb the marathon and planted one of two pressure-cooker bombs that exploded that day.
Two suspects in the attack were identified as brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
The Tsarnaev brothers killed a university police officer at MIT, carjacked an SUV and engaged in a gun battle with police in Watertown, Mass.
One police officer was injured in the Watertown battle. Tamerian Tsarnaev was shot multiple times and died after his brother Dzhokhar ran over him with the stolen SUV.
After a manhunt, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured after he was found hiding in a dry-docked boat..
Tsarnaev confessed to the bombing and was charged with 30 counts, 17 of which carried a maximum penalty of death. Despite confessing, Tsarnaev pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
