Six months of doctor visits and chest pains led to the discovery of a toothpick stuck in a man’s heart.
Doctors in Buenos Aires first thought Horacio Rodriguez just had an infection, so they put him on antibiotics. When his condition got worse, he went in for a second opinion, according to the Mirror.
Scans showed an object in his heart, so doctors opened him up.
Doctors were shocked to find an entire toothpick in Rodriguez’s heart.
Rodriguez said he wasn’t sure when he swallowed the toothpick, but he assumed it was during a party when he was eating appetizers.
Experts think the toothpick got to his heart through his esophagus or a large vein.
