Two men were arrested after Volusia County deputies said they tried to burglarize a home while an 11-year-old girl was inside.
The burglary attempt happened Monday morning at a home on Abel Avenue in DeLand, deputies said.
Authorities said Jazzmin Perez helped deputies catch the suspected burglars.
"Some person just came in and robbed our house," Perez said in a 911 call.
It was around 10:30 a.m. when Perez said she started hearing strange noises in her home.
"I yelled, like, 'Who's in here?' And, I thought it was my mom. So, I yelled, 'Mom!'" Perez said.
The noise prompted the intruder to flee. Perez said she then called 911.
But investigators said it was Zavier Bahena, 20, stealing items from Perez's parents' room.
"They came like really soon. So, I was so happy and I told them everything that happened, and they called my mom," Perez said.
Neighbor Raymond Denudt said he witnessed the man trying to flee in an accomplice's vehicle.
"He slammed on the brakes, stopped about where that box is and guy jumped in and took off," Denudt said.
Deputies said Perez and Denudt's descriptions of the suspects and vehicle helped them locate the alleged burglars.
"I was scared. There were so many mixed emotions," Perez said.
Bahena and Kelvin Kelly, 22, were arrested and are facing multiple charges related to the crime. They are facing additional charges of drug possession, authorities said.
