Tonight President Barack Obama will tell the American people why Hillary Clinton would be the best choice to follow him as the president of the United States.

Obama, only hours after Clinton became the first woman to be nominated for president by a major political party, talked about regrets he has that the new tone for politics he wanted to usher in eight years ago has not materialized. According to The Associated Press, Obama hopes the work of his administration would continue with a Clinton victory.

He warns, however, the run-up to the election will be anything be easy.

Anything is possible," Obama said, of the potential for America to elect GOP nominee Trump, and Democrats shouldn't take anything for granted, he added during an interview with NBC's "Today Show."

"Anybody who goes into campaigns not running scared can end up losing."

The president, vice-president and two of the three survivors of the Mother Emanuel Church shooting in Charleston, SC. will be among those speaking Wednesday night at the convention.

Also on Wednesday night, Tim Kaine was nominated as Clinton's vice presidential running mate.
