Portland, Oregon, resident Ted Nelson was looking out his apartment window when he saw a dog on the wrong side of a railing 14 stories up.
"I just looked out my window at my apartment across the street. There was a dog that had ended up climbing through the railing on its balcony, and it was perched on this little ledge," Nelson told KGW.
He thought that the small dog was likely to fall so he got below the ledge.
In his interview with KGW, he described what happened next:
"Eventually it slipped. I just looked up at it and it was looking at me and it landed right in my chest… caught it for a minute, kind of fell, it did hit the ground. It let out a yelp but it was a huge relief to hear it yelp,"
Nelson and his girlfriend took the dog to the vet to make sure it was OK.
The owner of the dog said that they are thankful that Nelson took action.
