Somehow after disappearing for a week Puss-Puss returned, however, the cat was riddled with pellets after being shot at least 30 times with an airgun.

She came home covered in blood, clearly injured, Friday night, according to the Evening Standard.

An X-ray showed that the 3-year-old cat was wounded all over her body, including her eye and paw. A couple of pellets narrowly missed her spine.

"I just can't think what sort of person could have done this to her," owner Doug Taw told the Standard. "We heard some gunshots but didn't imagine at first it could have anything to do with Puss-Puss."

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is investigating and hopes anyone with information about the incident will come forward.

"We were shocked to find that Puss-Puss was peppered with such an extraordinary number of pellet wounds all over her body and head," Adam Jones, an RSPCA inspector, told the Standard. "She would have been incredibly distressed and in a lot of pain and we want to do all we can to stop such a callous act happening again."

She is recovering but the damage to her eye is so bad, it will have to be removed.
