How do you give a duck a bill? That may have been what cab driver Urga Adunga was thinking when he gave the nine ducklings and their mom a lift.
Adunga saw the family stuck in the middle of a busy highway. He decided to use his cab to block traffic and rescue the helpless animals.
"I didn't want to pass them because there is no way for them to escape from the road," Adunga told the CBC. So the kind cabbie stopped to gather the animals, and he had more than a little help from other drivers.
"They helped me get the nine ducklings," he told the Calgary Herald. "I told them to put them for me in the car."
Secure in the backseat, Adunga whisked the ducks to the river and waived the $17 fare.
"As a human, it is our responsibility to protect those animals,” he began. “Not only the animals, humans, too, Adunga continued. “We have to rescue each other. We have to help each other."
