A stranger's burning home didn’t stop two men from springing into action and saving two dogs that were alone inside.

Smoke and fire were seen coming from the home Friday afternoon when Nick Mock and his brother were visiting at a neighbor’s house. They ran outside to see what they could do to help. Another neighbor was already outside calling 911.

"They said there were two dogs inside, and another neighbor came up the road and once he came, we sprang into action,” Mock said.

Since the homeowners were out of town, the men said they had to do something to help the pets.

The two men ran around back and broke through a glass door, where they found the two dogs waiting.

“Basically, there's a deck—it's not too high up but it's a little jump—and they handed the dogs down to us,” Mock said. “One was pretty heavy.”

The dogs were then handed over to a family that had been pet-sitting for the homeowners.

Mock said if put in the same situation, he’d do it all over again.

“Just had to get in there and get it. I just lost my dog recently, so I can't see another one go,” he said.
