Exactly two weeks before Thanksgiving, Jarvis Johnson, also known as "Mr. Black Friday," set up a tent and began camping outside of an Arizona Best Buy store.
Johnson, 26, has camped outside of the same Best Buy store in Avondale, Arizona, in anticipation of Black Friday deals since 2006, the Associated Press reported.
In the past, Johnson has set up his space a week before the biggest shopping day of the year, but this year, he got out there even earlier.
"It's a mental thing really, to be honest -- like can I do this? It's an uphill battle," he told KTVK.
On the tenth anniversary of his annual tradition, Johnson's setup outside of the electronics store will be more comfortable than ever. After gaining attention from Best Buy and other businesses, sponsors offered to provide him with canopies for his tent, couches, food and a microwave.
Plus, he was featured in a Best Buy advertisement.
"Even if nobody got behind me, I would still be out here because that's who I am," Johnson said.
In addition to the donated items, Johnson has set up carpet and a grill inside of the tent. Last year, he set up a bed, a television and a heater in his tent, which he was able to operate thanks to a 200 foot long extension cord, KTVK reported.
He told the news station then that he sets up early "because they say the early bird gets the worm, and the early, early, early bird gets the biggest worm."
"I guess I'm the bird and I'm trying to get the worm," he said.
According to KTVK, Johnson, who had to get a permit from the city to set up his camp, has taken off days from work to take part in Black Friday preparation.
"It's an experience," he told KTVK.
