Deputies had a pleasantly surprising encounter with a dog after responding to a loose animal call recently.
Worried residents called the Lee County Sheriff's Office reporting a large pit bull roaming around their neighborhood. When deputies arrived March 24, the dog found them with its tail wagging. The deputies said the dog was "just looking for friends to play with."
And the dog found some new play partners.
The Sheriff's Department Facebook page said the deputies played with the dog for a short time before returning it to its owners.
The owners told the deputies they accidentally left their gate open.
The deputies posted pictures of the lovable dog on its Facebook page and it has received nearly 50,000 likes.
