An Arizona man weighed in at 605 pounds before changes in diet and exercise helped him shed hundreds of pounds.

Pasquale Brocco, 31, started his weight loss journey three years ago when his doctor warned him that his lifestyle contributed to dangerous health effects like diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, ABC News reported. His doctor also told him that he could potentially die in his sleep.

Brocco said after one of his appointments, he went home and looked at himself in the mirror.

"My stomach was down to my thighs. My chest was hanging down," he told ABC News. "I was disgusted."

He decided then that he would make changes to improve his health and lifestyle: he decided he would start walking to Walmart every time he wanted to eat.

"I mean, at 600 pounds, I couldn't even go to the gym," he said. "I didn't fit on the machines ... You walk to Walmart three times a day, and you end up walking 6 miles. It's amazing because I never walked 6 miles in my life, and I was doing it every day."

"Once I figured out dairy was my downfall, I took it out of my diet, and instantly I started losing weight again," Brocco said.

He also cut out junk food and fast food and began incorporating foods like vegetables, quinoa and oatmeal into his diet.

Eventually, Brocco started walking on an incline on a treadmill at a gym, and he began lifting weights.

In all, Brocco lost 330 pounds. He had to have about 30 pounds of excess skin surgically removed. He went from having 53 percent body fat to 10 percent and is now training to be a body builder.
