South Daytona Animal Control is investigating a picture posted on Facebook of a dog’s mouth taped shut.

The post was seen on an account operated by Katie Brown of South Daytona.
The picture shows a dog with its mouth taped shut and a caption reading, “This is what happens when you dont shut up!!!.”
The post was shared by more than 25,000 people and has generated dozens of negative comments.
A follow-up post possibly made by Brown stated, “Dont panic everyone it was only for a minute but hasnt barked since... POINT MADE!!!”
Channel 9 received dozens of calls about the post and contacted Volusia County Animal Services, which said on its Facebook page it was made aware of the picture and South Daytona Animal Control is investigating.
The City of South Daytona's Facebook page said that the police department is aware of the incident and an animal abuse investigation is underway.
No further details have been released.
