Five people survived a small plane crash southeast of Nassau, Bahamas, and were rescued by the Royal Bahamian Defence Force after being spotted by a Coast Guard helicopter crew Monday night.
The crew of a Coast Guard helicopter were alerted to the downed Cessna aircraft with five people aboard at about 7:30 p.m.
Nearly three hours later, they spotted the five people floating on a life raft about nine nautical miles southeast of Nassau.
The pilot is reportedly Bahamian, but the nationalities of the others aboard the aircraft were not immediately reported. There were no reported injuries.
The plane had taken off from Crooked Islands, Bahamas, and was en route to Nassau when it went down.
