Conservative media outlets reported Tuesday that leaked emails from Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman showed that the Democratic presidential nominee "hates everyday Americans."

As proof, outlets such as Infowars, WND and Gateway Pundit pointed to an email sent in April 2015 by John Podesta, Clinton's campaign manager. The Clinton campaign has not confirmed or denied that the emails are legitimate.

In the 2015 emails, Podesta and multiple staffers discuss prepared remarks for Clinton ahead of a scheduled appearance on April 20 in Keene, New Hampshire.

"I know she has begun to hate everyday Americans, but I think we should use it once the first time she says I'm running for president because you and everyday Americans need a champion," Podesta wrote.

In the email, Podesta is clearly referring to the phrase "everyday Americans," and not actual everyday Americans.

"I think if she doesn't say it once, people will notice and say we false started in Iowa," Podesta wrote in the same email.

He fails to put quotation marks around the phrase and around the subsequent quote for Clinton, which may have contributed to the misinterpretation.

Conservative outlets quickly seized on the emails. In a story headlined "Wikileaks Bombshell: Hillary Clinton 'Hates Everyday Americans,'" Infowars reported, "John Podesta, Hillary's campaign guru, is in black and white admitting that Hillary Clinton hates everyday Americans. This is huge."

The story has since disappeared from the site.

Gateway Pundit and WND left their stories online. Neither outlet had mentioned the misinterpretation by Tuesday afternoon.
