Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush found himself in the hot seat after comments he made about the economy during an interview with a newspaper in New Hampshire went viral.
In the interview with the New Hampshire Union Leader, Bush said his goal for the economy is 4 percent growth and that the country needs to be a lot more productive.
"Workforce participation has to rise from its all-time modern lows. It means that people need to work longer hours and through their productivity gain more income for their families. That's the only way we are going to get out of this rut that we're in," Bush stated during the interview.
The Democratic Party was quick to pounce on the quote, and posted a video clip of the interview on the party’s official Twitter account.
Democratic presidential candidate frontrunner Hillary Clinton also sounded off on Bush’s remarks.
The Bush campaign said the remarks were taken out of context. Bush followed up with a retort of his own via his Twitter account.
