Clinton, Sanders invited to Columbus town hall

Sunday event comes two days before primaries in five states, including Ohio.

CNN and TV One will host a nationally televised prime-time Democratic town hall in Columbus on Sunday.

The event — which will occur at Mershon Auditorium at The Ohio State University from 8 to 10 p.m. — will be hosted by CNN’s Jake Tapper and TV One’s Roland Martin. Both Ohio voters and the moderators will be able to ask questions.

The event is designed to serve as closing arguments for the five states voting March 15 — Ohio, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina and Illinois.

CNN announced Tuesday that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has confirmed she will attend. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has also been invited.

Both candidates will be in Columbus already Sunday for the Ohio Democratic Party Legacy Dinner. According to an invitation to that event, the dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Columbus Convention Center.

Columbus-area Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Jefferson Twp., helped arrange the event. Ohio State has not yet released details on how to attend.
