Afternoon temperatures are expected to climb into the low 80s through Saturday, but a weekend cold front will keep highs in the 60s and drop overnight lows into the mid- to upper 40s by early next week.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said highs ahead of the front will be in the low 80s Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with lows in the mid-50s to around 60 degrees.

The cold front will bring a 30 percent chance of rain to metro Atlanta Saturday night and Sunday, along with much cooler temperatures.

Minton said Sunday highs in the low 70s will be followed by lows Sunday night in the upper 40s.

Monday’s high should only reach the upper 60s, with lows Monday night dipping into the mid- to upper 40s.

Atlanta’s normal high for this time of the year is 76 degrees, the normal low 58.
